There is a Maxwell House factory in Jacksonville, Plant #1, that roast the coffee beans and you can smell it for miles, at least you could when I was a kid. Probably can’t now due to EPA regs and ‘Climate Change’ rules.

It was also located nearby a King Edward Cigar factory and the smell from that was also in the air, if you liked cigars.

Also nearby was a huge bakery for one of the big bread companies, Merita, I think, though they made bread for many different brands. and that smell was also in the air!.....................

Only two truly BAD smells, and that was from a paint factory and a paper mill that were not near downtown but near the suburbs, and they smelled awful!............

Paper mills smell like puke, if you’ve never smelled one. That’s because they use hydrochloric acid to break down the wood fibers to make the paper. Just like the acid in your stomach. The main part of the plant is even called a ‘digester’................

Yes, when my parents moved to Callahan in 1975 they lived near a dairy farm, and my mother worked there as a milker!................

At one point in my life, I worked for a commercial roofing company.

They specialized in tar and gravel roofs, fairly common here in Florida.

The tar smelled awful!

I asked the foreman one day while spreading the tar and gravel on the roof of our local AFB BX, “How can you stand the smell of this stuff day after day after day?”

He simply replied while tossing out another bucket full of tar, “That’s the smell of MONEY!”...................

I read once of a man who was a pig-farmer, and the smell was awful. He scrubbed and scrubbed, but he could not get the smell off his hands.

He apologized profusely to his wife; but she told him not to be concerned, because he was earning an honest and honorable living, and that was what she cared about......................

Pigs are fairly clean animals if you give them the space to be.........................

The Gadarene pigs: something got into them.................
